Along with Blue Birds, Sandhill Cranes always signal the start of Spring when they arrive back to the valleys of Montana. They stalk along the ground in pairs feeding on insects and small animals. This one happens to be doing so in a field of lupine and paintbrush with the Spanish Peaks of the Madison Range in the background.
